Tommy Two Blades

Building the digital foundation for a local barbershop

Tommy Two Blades is a local barbershop out of Teneriffe, Brisbane, that lives and dies on foot traffic, repeat clients, and word of mouth in its immediate area. We took on their entire digital presence, from the website through to content, social media, and local SEO. The engagement began with a website and content shoot, then expanded into social media management and a local SEO retainer as the relationship matured. The brief was simple: give a business with real local pull the digital infrastructure to grow on purpose instead of by reputation alone.

The Problem

Tommy Two Blades had the reputation and the brand presence, but almost none of the digital infrastructure a modern brick-and-mortar business needs to grow deliberately.

  • No website -- The shop had no standalone site to turn local searchers into bookings, and nothing structured to show up when people searched for a barber. There was only an online booking form from their internal booking management system.
  • Invisible in search -- With no SEO foundation, the shop was missing from the searches that matter most for a barbershop, like "barber near me" and suburb-level queries
  • Inconsistent content -- Social output was sporadic and reactive, with no consistency in cadence or quality. It didn't reflect the energy of the actual space or keep the shop front of mind between visits
The Solution

Tommy Two Blades engaged us across a website and content build and an ongoing social media and local SEO retainer. We built the foundation, then fed it with a steady, systemised content engine.

  • Built a fast, local-first website -- We helped them secure their domain and built a clean, modern site designed to turn local searchers into bookings, with a clear path to the booking function
  • Built out local SEO foundations -- We developed local landing pages targeting the surrounding suburbs so the shop shows up for nearby searches, and built and managed listing citations with consistent, clean data
  • Set up review capture pipelines -- We expanded their SMS automations and reworked the review request messaging to capture more Google reviews, then replied to each one individually to keep the profile active and engaged
  • Set up a staff-driven content system -- We built a repeatable production workflow around simple, unobtrusive gear the staff could use themselves. We trained the team to capture short clips through the week and upload them to a shared drive, then we edit and schedule everything in advance. That kept the content natural and out of the customers' way while lifting volume, with a staff quota of one captured cut each per week
  • Ran a consistent multi-format posting cadence -- We took over social across Instagram, Facebook, and Google Business, publishing a steady mix of reels, statics, and stories built to give the feeds dimension and leave room for business or promotional changes
The Results
  • Took over the local map pack -- Measured on a 49-point grid (500m spacing, April to September 2026), the shop went from zero top-3 positions in Newstead to 16 of 49 grid points, with average rank lifting from 6.8 to 4.4. In New Farm it went from invisible on 19 grid points to showing on 47, average rank improving from 12.5 to 7.8. On "barber near me" it tripled top-3 coverage from 4 grid points to 12
  • Locked down home turf -- It now ranks #1 or #2 for "barber Teneriffe" across all 49 grid points, up from an average of 2.7
  • Built the strongest review engine in the area -- Reviews grew to 461 at a 4.9 average, roughly 50 new reviews in three months, each replied to within one business day. That's the second-strongest review profile in the catchment, ahead of the nearest competitor's 256
  • Grew non-brand search, the searches from people who don't know the shop yet -- Non-brand clicks are up 39% since launch. "Barber near me" clicks tripled in a quarter, moving from position 6.0 to 4.0. Across all non-brand terms, average position improved from 15.0 to 8.7 while impressions grew 4.4x, so the shop ranks better across far more searches at once, now earning clicks on 41 distinct non-brand queries
  • Multiplied overall search visibility -- Impressions grew from 814 in the launch month to a peak of 6,215, a 7.6x lift inside ten months, and are up 45% quarter on quarter (10,553 to 15,284). Five suburb pages now rank in positions 3.3 to 5.8, each pulling 1,350 to 1,994 impressions a quarter, with two brand-new suburb pages going from zero to around 1,400 impressions each in their first quarter live

Tom Davis, Owner of Tommy Two Blades "We came to Uno Digital to build our website, kick off our content journey, and expand our visibility. They nailed every aspect we asked of them. Seamless from start to finish."
